Product / Sometimes the best shot isn't the one you planned. For this project with Elbe Textiles, the original idea was to lay the garments flat on a textured concrete floor. We started shooting, but quickly realised something wasn't quite right. The pieces deserved to be seen in a way that better reflected the care and craftsmanship behind them. So we pivoted. We borrowed one of the C-stands from the studio and suspended the garments instead. Instantly, everything clicked into place. The industrial feel suited Lauren's handmade process, the garments hung beautifully and overall the images told a much stronger brand story. I always go into shoots with a plan, but its also about observing, adapting on the day and thinking about how we can tell this story better. I love how this project came together, and thankful for clients who aren't afraid to trust the process. Behind every product is a thousand tiny decisions. The packaging. The font. The colour palette. The textures and finishes. The weight. The hand feel. The branding details. The details that customers may not necessarily consciously notice, but definitely feel when they see and interact with your brand. As a product photographer, I intentionally slow down and capture all those details. The small elements that often take months (if not years) to perfect, and let those guide the direction of the imagery. Beautiful product images aren't only about what you sell, it's also about capturing the craftsmanship + the connection with your clientele by giving your products the visual presence they deserve.
